Western Australia made a strong impression on the global stage at the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show, winning a Silver Gilt medal – the second highest accolade available.
Tourism Western Australia partnered with Journey Beyond and the South Australian Tourism Commission to bring the ‘Journey Beyond the Tracks: From Adelaide to Perth’ garden to life, which was displayed to millions of visitors at the prestigious show.
The stunning garden was created by award-winning designer Max Parker-Smith and celebrated Perth and Adelaide as ‘nature cities’, which book-end the epic Indian Pacific train route across the Nullarbor Plain.
The garden was designed in rich storytelling, blending travel, horticulture, innovation and sustainability – all while conveying the diversity, colour and uniqueness of Australian landscapes. Western Australia’s presence captured international attention, showcasing the state’s natural beauty to a highly engaged UK audience.
The United Kingdom is Western Australia's largest international visitor market by numbers, with WA welcoming 163,000 UK visitors in 2025.
Tourism WA’s investment in the Chelsea Flower Show is a creative and compelling showcase of Western Australia’s extraordinary natural assets, and an inspiring invitation for international visitors to experience the state for themselves – whether that be exploring the national parks, discovering the distinctive native flora, or embarking on one of the world’s great rail journeys.
The exposure has strengthened Western Australia’s profile as a world-class destination and reinforced the state’s appeal with high-yield international travellers.
