Tourism WA's Trade Ready Introduction Program (TRIP) is helping West Australian tourism businesses grow, with a recent survey revealing that 68 per cent of participating operators have increased sales since participating in the program.

Since launching in 2024, TRIP has supported 30 West Australian tourism operators to expand their business and reach new domestic and international markets.

The survey also found that half of the participating businesses have employed additional staff or contractors as a result of increased business generated through TRIP, demonstrating the program’s impact in tourism business growth and local job creation.

Participants reported range of benefits from the program, including:

  • Building relationships with buyers and industry partners;
  • Securing new trade opportunities and contracts;
  • Increasing business visibility; and
  • Developing the skills, capability and confidence needed to succeed in international tourism markets.

One operator credited TRIP with contributing to almost one-third of the business’ sales growth, which exceeded 40 percent in three years.

The survey revealed that more than half of participants attended the Australian Tourism Exchange through TRIP, with three in four strongly agreeing they intend to attend again, beyond the program.

Designed to help established tourism operators expand their business into the interstate and international markets, TRIP also helps increase Western Australia’s presence by showcasing product diversity at out-of-state trade events.

Over a three-year period, operators in the program are provided with stepped-financial assistance to attend in-market trade events and support in establishing relationships with buyers through various trade engagement opportunities.

Programs like TRIP focus on delivering real commercial outcomes to support industry, helping businesses to secure new contracts, increase sales and create jobs.

Applications are now open for the next TRIP intake. To find out more about eligibility requirements and how to apply, visit the Trade Ready Introduction Program webpage.
