Western Australia has further strengthened its status as Australia’s Western Gateway, welcoming two new non-stop international Qantas services from Auckland and Johannesburg to Perth.

The new services will run three times per week using an Airbus A330, delivering greater convenience and connectivity for visitors from New Zealand and South Africa.

Together, the flights will provide an estimated 80,000 additional inbound seats to WA each year, creating new opportunities for tourism, business travel, and family reunions.

These services complement existing flights by Air New Zealand and South African Airways, further enhancing Perth’s global aviation connectivity, with 23 international airlines now servicing 20 non-stop routes into the state.

New Zealand remains WA’s third-largest international market, with 78,000 visitors contributing $166 million to the state’s economy in the year ending September 2025. The Auckland route will add nearly 40,000 extra seats annually and will also open a new connection from the United States via New York City—one of WA’s priority global visitor markets.

Similarly, the Johannesburg service will deliver an additional 40,000 seats each year, making it easier for travellers from the emerging South Africa market to experience WA’s vibrant capital, stunning coastline, and diverse regions.

These new connections are expected to supercharge WA’s visitor economy, supporting local jobs and businesses across the tourism and hospitality sectors, while reinforcing Perth’s reputation as a world-class tourism destination.
