Tourism WA worked with Painted Dog Research on a project to determine the tourism opportunities associated with the sealing of the Outback Way. The road runs over 2,700km from Laverton WA to Winton QLD, with over 1,000km currently unsealed.
The research explored consumer demand and expectations to inform future infrastructure development and marketing opportunities in order to deliver the visitor experience along this important tourism route once it is fully sealed.
It highlights the appeal for self-drive tourism, with demand for regular service provision along the Outback Way paired with tourism opportunities such as Aboriginal tours and experiences or unique hospitality offerings.
