​The itineraries included in the Familiarisation Program are initiated by our international and domestic marketing teams.

After consultation with the Tourism WA Familiarisations Manager, visits are managed by Tourism WA staff or contractors at times of high demand.

Our aim is to develop itineraries which result in the best possible promotion of the State. The promotion of a destination through a famil can provide benefits for the rest of the State through an increase in tourism to WA.

Itineraries for media and trade familiarisations vary significantly. Media groups are looking for a story angle, an interesting character to interview or a good photograph.  Trade is interested in seeing as much product as possible in order to confidently sell it to their clients. Itineraries prepared by Tourism WA reflect these different requirements.
