Attracting holiday visitors from key South East Asian markets and long haul destinations is the focus of a $12 million international marketing boost for Tourism WA.

These markets include Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong as well as the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States of America.

The funding is made up of $9 million allocated in the 2019-20 State Budget as well as $3million existing funding.

Marketing activities to attract these international visitors to Western Australia will include partnering with airlines, overseas travel companies, online travel agencies and inbound tour operators on joint co-operative marketing campaigns as well as partnerships with key Perth hotels for stopover programs.

Tourism is a key economic driver, generating 108,800 jobs and injecting $12.9 billion into the West Australian economy by Gross State Product.

This means growing this industry is key to the State Government's plan to diversify the economy, create jobs, and develop business opportunities, especially in regional WA.
