The majority of people that visit WA come from the domestic market – this includes people from WA (intrastate market) and from other parts of Australia (interstate market).

Western Australia is divided up into five tourism regions – Australia’s South West, Australia’s Golden Outback, Australia’s North West, Australia’s Coral Coast and Destination Perth. Each region is represented by a Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO), which is the peak marketing body for that area. View the map for more information.

We provide funding to the five RTOs to deliver intrastate campaigns for their specific region as well as support our interstate and international marketing. They are a key link between us and the local tourism industry and work closely with local tourism organisations and local government authorities to achieve better tourism outcomes.

Due to COVID-19 and travel restrictions, for the first time in decades we have been actively marketing the State to West Australians (intrastate market). We have been working closely with each of the RTOs on our marketing activities to encourage West Aussies to go further and explore more of the State.
