Tourism WA has appointed Seaview Marketing as its marketing agency in New Zealand following a competitive tender process.

Seaview Marketing will commence under a two-year contract on 14 July, 2016 with options to continue until 2021.

Executive Director of Markets & Partnerships at Tourism WA, Gwyn Dolphin, said New Zealand was an important market for Western Australia.

“We were looking for someone with an innovative approach to marketing first and foremost; and someone who could capitalise on partnerships with key airline, trade and media partners to drive demand,” Mr Dolphin said.

“Despite excellent air access to Perth and an abundance of extraordinary attractions across the state, the reality is Western Australia is a longer trip for New Zealand visitors than other Australian destinations so we need to be smart about getting people’s attention.”

Seaview Marketing was founded by Kate Wright, a qualified and experienced destination marketer who has a strong track record with more than 20 years working for national, state and regional tourism organisations in New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Mr Dolphin said the appointment comes just one week after the launch of Tourism WA’s new campaign Just Another Day in WA, which will be rolled out in international markets later this year.

“We are looking forward to the application of the Just Another Day in WA concept in New Zealand, and the growth of the market.”

The current contract, with Suede Limited, is due to expire on 30 June, with no further extension options. Mr Dolphin thanked Suede, Lisa d'Souza and Louise Frend for representing WA in New Zealand for the past five years.

Visitor statistics show that in the 12 months to March 2016, 82,500 visitors from New Zealand came to WA and spent $128 million. New Zealand is WA’s fourth largest international visitor market in terms of numbers and sixth in terms of visitor spend.
