As the days shorten and the cold weather creeps in, venues across Albany will heat up with a wide variety of arts, culture and children’s events. The Maritime Festival celebrates the city’s cultural and maritime history, including that of Albany’s Menang Noongar people – who have strong links to the sea dating back thousands of years.<br/><br/>The Maritime Festival is presented by the City of Albany.

The festival includes free and low-cost activities, which are held in sheltered marquees or community buildings around town. Margaret River Ultra Marathon

The Margaret River Ultra Marathon provides an incredible journey through the forests, trails, beaches and bluffs on the beautiful Cape to Cape coastline in Southwest Western Australia. Run past famous surf breaks, iconic wineries and charismatic coastal villages in a journey that is as magical as the Margaret River region is beautiful.<br/><br/>The 80-kilometre ultra course starts on the white sands at Hamelin Bay in the south and runs up the coast to finish at the iconic Howard Park winery at Wilyabrup. It also includes a 42-kilometre Trail Marathon starting at Yallingup in the north and running south to the same epic finish line on Sunday.<br/><br/>The electric race atmosphere and camaraderie on the course are multiplied twice over at the Howard Park finish line as runners celebrate their accomplishments to the tunes of live music, food, wine, beer and gratitude. <br/><br/>Whether you’re a trail running rookie or a long-distance devotee, make the Margaret River Ultra Marathon your next running goal.

Through a diverse calendar packed with exciting events and experiences including dining under the stars, music, yoga boats, comedy, storytelling, rodeo and more, to the local characters and flavour that make Kununurra and the East Kimberley one of the most iconic destinations in the world, the Festival is a truly enthralling, enchanting and magical experience for all. From humble beginnings in 2001, the Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster came to life quietly as a simple one-night affair, a pleasant dinner in the outback for local businesses. Since then, it has grown at lightning speed to be firmly established as a pre-eminent event in the national festival calendar, being a three-time Hall of Fame Inductee (2017-2011-2008) at the WA Tourism Awards as well as being officially recognised as the Best Regional Event in Australia at the 2015 Australian Event Awards to name but a few notches of ‘The Muster’s’ belt.

The Albany Classic “Around the Houses” is run through the heart of Albany’s CBD, overlooking the ANZAC Peace Park and Princess Royal Harbour. This spectacle of historic motor sport presents a wide variety of cars from vintage wire wheels, post-vintage and classics as well as open-wheel racers and big cube muscle cars. <br/><br/>This event is organised locally by the Albany Classic Motorsport Club with support from other local and Perth motorsport clubs.<br/><br/>Please visit their website for more details.

The British and Irish Lions v Western Force - Perth

The British and Irish Lions will return to Australia in 2025 to verse Western Force - in Optus Stadium, Perth. This highly anticipated and in-demand festival of Rugby will see the Lions play nine matches in Australia, with three Tests against the Wallabies and six tour games around the country. The travelling festival is expected to fill stadiums whilst also attracting over 40,000 international visitors to Australia!<br/><br/>The British and Irish Lions combine the best players from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, touring either Australia, New Zealand or South Africa every four years – meaning the Lions only visit Australia every 12 years.<br/><br/>Australia shares a long history with the Lions, with Australia’s first ever Rugby Test match taking place against a British Isles team at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 1899 on the Lions’ first tour to Australia.
