Australia's Coral Coast

Australias Coral Coast

Australia's Coral Coast is the peak tourism body responsible for marketing one of Western Australia's most spectacular and rapidly developing regions stretching from Cervantes to Exmouth.

The strength of this region is its unique natural attractions including the Pinnacles Desert, the Abrolhos Islands, the Kalbarri National Park and the Shark Bay World Heritage Area. From June to November the region comes alive with thousands of species of colourful wildflowers putting on a spectacular show that attracts visitors from around the world.

Australia's Coral Coast also boasts pristine coastlines and a world class marine environment including Ningaloo Reef - one of the world's most accessible fringing reefs comprising of 500 species of fish and 220 species of colourful corals. From late March to June each year, Ningaloo Reef is home to the world's largest fish - the whale shark.

The brand of Australia's Coral Coast is now well established within the tourism industry in Australia and within those key international markets in which the organisation takes an active approach. These key international tourism markets include South East Asia, UK/Europe, New Zealand and Japan.

Constant development along Australia's Coral Coast is continuing to further enhance this region as the ideal holiday destination. In January 2006, the new $7.7 million Shark Bay Interpretive Centre was opened, showcasing inspired collections with interactive technology. An Interpretive Centre to be located at the Pinnacles is currently under construction and due for completion at the end of 2006. Geraldton is currently undergoing a $25 million upgrade to enhance the foreshore and accommodation will be added to the spectacular Abrolhos Islands during 2007. Construction of the Hilton Hotel is due to begin in Coral Bay in January 2007 with the expected completion time of 18 months. Stage One of the Novotel Hotel will open at the Exmouth Marina in October 2006, while Quest will add accommodation in Geraldton and Exmouth in 2007.

Skywest Airlines operate daily to Geraldton, Carnarvon and Exmouth, four times weekly to Monkey Mia and 3 weekly services to Kalbarri.
