West Oz Welcomers

The West Oz Welcomers (known as WOWs) is a volunteer group of 60 friendly people that have been welcoming visitors to Western Australia since September 2003.

They wear distinctive uniforms and are stationed at Perth's domestic and international airports, the East Perth Train Station, and at Fremantle Port during the cruise ship season from November to April. WOWs  also volunteer at various special events.

The WOWs give up their spare time to make visitors to Western Australia's capital city feel welcome whether it's helping newly-arrived visitors towards a taxi or shuttle bus, finding them accommodation, or giving directions or tips on things to see and do in Perth.

The WOW program is quite unique, with Perth one of only two cities in the world to have volunteers welcoming visitors at the main entry points (the other is Paris).
