Message From The Minister For Tourism
Message from the
Hon Sheila McHale MLA
Minister for Tourism
This Discussion Paper is another step in giving all Western Australians a voice in our State’s tourism future.
The value of tourism for WA is well-established: it serves as a boost for the economy, provides considerable community benefits for our people, enriches our lifestyle, and displays our rich cultural and heritage offerings. Tourism also serves to both protect and showcase our unique natural environments.
The final strategy that will evolve as a result of this Discussion Paper and extensive community consultation will be an important tool that establishes agreed goals for the tourism industry, investors, local governments, the community and the State Government. These will be goals towards which we will strive together.
I urge all interested Western Australians to have their say about where we want to be in the year 2020 and what we need to do now, and in the years between to ensure we get there. I invite your spirited discussion and new ideas to help us set a strong direction for the future of tourism in our State.

Hon Sheila McHale MLA
MINISTER FOR TOURISM
