Tourism policy and planning 

 

Tourism Western Australia's Policy and Planning team is responsible for developing and implementing projects relating to tourism development consistent with the department's 2005-2010 Strategic Plan. The team deals with planning and policy, infrastructure, Indigenous tourism, arts and culture and other niche product sectors.

Its roles include:

  • Negotiating with tourism development industry to ensure appropriate development outcomes.
  • Liaising with other government bodies (federal, state and local) on infrastructure provision, policy changes and development approvals.
  • Providing input into strategically significant projects, taskforces and committees
  • Building relationships with key stakeholders.

The Destination Development Strategies (DDS) are a series of five documents that identify gaps in infrastructure, attractions, accommodation and other tourism facilities across each of Western Australia’s five tourism regions.
