Niche product is considered a group of related tourism product that itself is a motivating lure for travellers. Typically, quite specific market segments are customers of niche product. Niche product marketing and development is defined by experience-type tourism product, as opposed to being region or destination based.

Tourism Western Australia identified in its 2005-2010 Strategic Plan five iconic themes regarded as the essence of a quintessential Western Australian holiday experience - wine and food, people & lifestyle, outback and adventure, forest and wildflowers, and the marine environment.

Industry Development and Visitor Servicing (IDVS) will concentrate efforts in developing niche product sectors associated with nature-based tourism; wine & food tourism; heritage tourism; arts & cultural tourism; and Indigenous tourism.
