Access to affordable water, power and sewerage is a crucial element to developers' investment decisions.

The tourism industry's size and structure does not encourage investment in large-scale, common-user infrastructure projects. The private sector will invest in the tourism infrastructure required to service visitors, such as accommodation, attractions, tour product and restaurants, if provision of basic public infrastructure is provided.

In Coral Bay, the state and federal government is investing approximately $20 million in upgrading sewerage ($7m), water ($12m) and electricity infrastructure ($7.6m) to the town. This has generated the first significant investment in tourism infrastructure in the town since the early 1990s.

Tourism WA liaises with various government agencies and authorities to lobby for the development and delivery of affordable, reliable and sustainable utilities
