A good first step in reducing your businesses climate change impact is to find out what your businesses Carbon Footprint is.
The Carbon Footprint has been described as the measurement of the amount of carbon dioxide emitted through the combustion of fossil fuels at an individual, household or business level. It is expressed as tCO2-e (equivalent tonnes of carbon dioxide).
A study of the Carbon Footprint of Australian Tourism (PDF 2.28MB) has been completed by the Sustainable Cooperative Research Centre (STCRC) and found that in the year 2003-04, tourism was responsible for the emission of between 54 to 61 million tonnes of Greenhouse Gases (GHG).
