Tourism WA recognises that Visitor Centres have played a crucial role in educating and engaging local industry in online booking. For instance many Visitor Centres manage online inventory on behalf of operators, while others have invested considerable time and resources in training operators on the use of booking systems.
Visitor Centres can participate in the Exchange in two ways:
Visitor Centres integrate as a Distributor of the Exchange - Access to a bigger inventory pool
Visitor Centres may wish to connect to the exchange so that they can sell a wider range of products through their own websites or retail centres. This means that Visitor Centres can offer better service to walk-in customers and website visitors. For instance Visitor Centres can offer visitors the chance to forward book Exchange-listed products in neighbouring regions through their website or retail centres.
When acting as an Exchange distributor, Visitor Centres are free to set their own commission rates and structures.
Visitor Centres integrate as a Polling Partner of the Exchange - Increased distribution of Visitor Centre listed products
Visitor Centres that use a compatible booking system can connect to the Open Booking Exchange and sell their inventory through the Exchange. This will mean that inventory that had until now only been available for sale through the Visitor Centres website can be distributed and sold across any powered booking site such as needitnow.com.au, bestrates.com.au and westernaustralia.com
Visitor Centres can choose to charge their existing commission rates for sales through the exchange, or may wish to set up a different commission structure for Exchange versus non-Exchange sales.
Consider the Exchange as another tool by which your business can be sold and marketed.
