Tourism WA undertakes a range of marketing, events and public relations activities involving the local travel trade partners for the China market.

WA Greater China Travel Mission

The 2017 WA Greater China Travel Mission (WAGCTM) was held from October 22-25, 2017 in Hangzhou, China.

For the first time, the mission included key travel agents from Taiwan.

WAGCTM helps increase awareness of WA as a holiday destination. It also gives WA operators the chance to grow business opportunities with key trade partners in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

This year’s event included in-market updates, one-on-one appointments with approximately 60 key outbound tour agencies and networking functions.

Ni Hao WA 2018

Ni Hao WA 2018 will be held on March 19, 2018. An industry prospectus for the event will be available in January next year.

Ni Hao WA (Chinese for ‘hello’) is an annual event for the State's tourism industry. It will not only showcase the State, but will also help grow business relationships with key tourism trade partners in China, Hong Kong and for the first time, Taiwan.

The objectives of the event are to:
• Provide a cost-effective platform for accredited WA operators to meet and establish business relationships with key buyers.
• Provide an entry-level platform for new WA operators who are keen to explore the Chinese and Hong Kong markets.
• Increase awareness of WA as a destination and raise the profile of WA tourism product suppliers.
• Provide an update on the latest travel trends and market situation in China and Hong Kong.
• Further strengthen business relationships with key product and marketing managers in China.

The event provides an opportunity for selected Chinese trade buyers to tour the State as part of a familiarisation program to gain greater product knowledge before participating in one-on-one appointments with the WA tourism industry.

Ni Hao WA also includes a Market Briefing update on China and Hong Kong and networking opportunities with key industry partners and China trade media.

Chinese Holiday Planner

The Chinese Holiday Planner provides information on WA's extraordinary experiences for Chinese travellers, travel media and key outbound operators. It features a range of WA products including accommodation, tours, attractions, transportation and restaurants.

China Ready Accreditation and workshops

The significant growth in the China market requires a clear understanding of the requirements of Chinese visitors. Tourism Council WA runs the China Ready Accreditation program and workshops to help businesses to become ready for this growing market.

For more information on China Ready Accreditation businesses in Western Australia visit the Trust the Tick website. More details on the China Ready workshops are available at the Tourism Council WA website.

Familiarisation activities

Tourism WA with the support of industry hosts a series of familiarisations  to promote our extraordinary State. The familiarisations target high-end travel media, key outbound wholesalers and tour operators from China. The visits allow Chinese travel experts to experience what our State has to offer first-hand so that they can effectively promote WA to consumers.
