Calendar Listing Criteria 

 

Events must meet the following criteria to be considered for listing on the WA Major Events Calendar:

  1. Eventscorp funded events
  2. Regional events funded by Eventcorp's Regional Events Scheme
  3. Eventscorp non-funded national and international events which:
    Attract a minimum of 10,000 physical spectators
    Align with Tourism Western Australia's corporate objectives
  4. Regular concert series events attracting more than 3,500 spectators per performance.
  5. Significant arts/ historical/ cultural events evaluated on a case by case basis.

In addition the evaluation of each case is also assessed on:

  1. Alignment with Tourism Western Australia's strategic directions.
  2. Uniqueness to Western Australia.
  3. Willingness of the event organisers to work with Tourism Western Australia to enhance the tourism experience.
  4. Potential economic impact.
  5. Media impact.
  6. Event frequency.
  7. Potential for tourism related activity.
  8. The ability of the event to develop over time.
  9. Prestige: the increase in status and profile that the event may bring to the State.

Events can also be listed on Tourism Western Australia's official consumer website www.westernaustralia.com. The information is stored in the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) - a national tourism database used by other tourism websites to market Western Australian destinations and businesses globally. There are over 30 prominent Australian travel websites that access and distribute the data from the ATDW, currently generating 24 million hits per annum for the Australian tourism industry.
