Richard, a qualified Town Planner, joined the Western Australian Public Sector in 1987, bringing with him some 14 years of private sector experience in market research and marketing, including in his own company which was sold to a major national research group in 1986.
He originally joined the (then) Western Australian Technology & Industry Development Authority as Director of the Marketing Division. Apart from two years in London (1990-1991) as Director of Trade and Investment of the Western Australian European Office, he remained with the Department in its various guises as Executive Director of Trade and Industry Development until 1997.
In mid-1997 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the WA Department of Commerce & Trade, the State's premier industry and trade development agency - a post he held until May 2001, when he left to head up Tourism Western Australia.
David began his career in travel and tourism in the mid 1980's in Perth.
Over the ensuing eight years David worked in a range of sales and marketing roles with the WA Tourism Commission, primarily interstate, as well as with Australian Airlines and overseas in Spain working within the leisure and events industry.
In 1998, David returned permanently to Perth and worked in a variety of roles with Perth Zoo including marketing, events and visitor services. In 2001 he took up a senior management position with the privately owned AQWA - The Aquarium of WA, overseeing commercial development, events and marketing related activities. Before joining EventsCorp in December 2006, David spent 3 years heading up the commercial operations across the WA Museum's seven sites, including the new WA Maritime Museum in Fremantle.
The EventsCorp team is responsible for securing major events for Western Australia, both in Perth and throughout the State's regional areas. EventsCorp also oversees the marketing service agreement for business event tourism contracted to the Perth Convention Bureau.
Jennifer Duffecy has a background in economic and regional development, public policy and community development. She has worked in both Queensland and Western Australia. Jennifer has five years experience with the tourism sector.
As an Executive Director of Tourism WA she leads a team that works across the areas of investment attraction, land use and infrastructure planning, workforce strategies, visitor servicing, business support and product innovation.
Jennifer is a Board member of Australian Tourism Data Warehouse a company that provides a national platform for digital tourism information on Australia.
Stephanie was appointed to the position of Executive Director Marketing in March 2008 and was formerly the Head of Marketing for BankWest’s Retail Division. She also has experience in the FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) industry in the US and Australia with Pfizer/Warner-Lambert Consumer Healthcare.
Stephanie is responsible for Tourism WA’s domestic and international marketing activities, including brand management, public relations and research.
Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science (Marketing) degree from Pennsylvania State University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Virginia.
Stephanie was seconded to the position of Executive Director Corporate and Business Services in February 2005 and appointed in late 2005.
She has held senior positions in the corporate and business area within the State Government since 1987. She advised on whole of Public Service human resource policy while Manager Personnel Policy at the State Public Service Commission.
Stephanie has been General Manager Corporate Services at Central TAFE, Director Human Resources at the Department of Justice and Director Corporate Services within the Prison's Division of the Justice Department.
Prior to 1987 Stephanie was a Commonwealth Public Servant and State Director of Migrant Settlement for the Department of Immigration for 9 years from 1978 - 1987. Her original qualification is in social work, which she practiced at Royal Perth Hospital and the Department of Social Security. She holds a BA and Graduate Diploma in Social Work from the University of Western Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Public Sector Management from Curtin University of Technology.
Rick has extensive career experience in tourism, which began in the early 1970s with a coach company in the United Kingdom.
Since joining the (then) Western Australian Department of Tourism in 1977 as a travel consultant in its Sydney Office, Rick has held a variety of positions in Tourism WA including Interstate Marketing Manager, Product Development Manager, General Manager International Sales and Marketing, and Executive Director Marketing and Communications. He formerly held the position of Executive Director Trade Marketing before taking on the aviation development role.
His tourism marketing achievements include introducing Brand Western Australia to the global marketplace and the successful delivery of the memorable Elle MacPherson tourism campaign. Rick has headed a Marketing Effectiveness Review and chaired the Destination Australia Marketing Alliance between all Australian State Tourism Organisations and Tourism Australia, which is delivering a more streamlined national approach to international tourism marketing.
