Tourism WA

Purpose

To develop, promote and protect Western Australia's iconic tourism experiences.

Tourism Western Australia is a statutory authority under the portfolio of the Minister for Tourism and is governed by a Board of Commissioners. Responsible for promoting Western Australia as an attractive holiday, event, convention and incentive travel destination, nationally and overseas, Tourism Western Australia enhances the tourism industry, infrastructure and product base.

Tourism WA has five divisions, each with a specific role in growing the development of tourism as an industry and increasing visitation to and length of stay in Western Australia.

Tourism Western Australia will achieve its vision through six major strategic objectives:

  • Improve the quality of visitor experiences;
  • Secure the future of regional tourism;
  • Grow visitor expenditure faster than visitor nights (numbers);
  • Accelerate the development of Aboriginal tourism;
  • Influence major infrastructure priorities and attract private investment;
  • Build recognition that tourism and events enhance the unique WA lifestyle and supports the natural environment.

Tourism Western Australia has recently undertaken a review of its functions and structure to ensure the agency continues to deliver against the objectives of the strategic plan. The new structure comprises – Marketing, Industry Development, Eventscorp, Aviation Development, and Corporate and Business Services. The Marketing and Industry Development divisions in particular have undergone considerable changes.
