​Events are vital in helping to grow visitation as they provide a definite, time-based reason to visit a particular destination.​

They not only attract visitors, but also increase visitor spend, add vibrancy to WA and raise the profile of the State nationally and internationally through media exposure.

Positioning WA as a recognised events destination for locals and visitors will help us achieve our goal of $12 billion by 2020.

We want to develop an international events calendar that includes a wide range of sporting, cultural, arts and culinary events that provide valuable exposure for the State and drive visitation.

To achieve this we need to work with industry to develop compelling, viable events to enhance the attractiveness of the WA events calendar.

In addition, the development of innovative marketing campaigns will help us promote these events to locals and visitors.

We also need to work with government to ensure that that we have world-class events infrastructure available in the State – such as the Perth Arena and the new Perth stadium.
