​Australia’s rich ethnic diversity and world-class produce has developed one of the most exciting and multicultural cuisines in the world. It has also created chefs, winemakers and producers who are creative and not afraid to step away from old world traditions.

WA’s high quality food and beverages attract around 400,000 dedicated gourmet travellers who enjoy extraordinary produce in stunningly beautiful locations as part of their trip.

In 2014 Tourism WA and Tourism Research Australia commissioned some food and wine specific research which identified trends and drivers.

Taste 2020 is a joint strategy developed in conjunction with the Department of Regional Development, Department of Agriculture and Food and Department of Fisheries in addition to tourism and hospitality industry leaders and stakeholders. Its purpose is to strengthen WA’s position as an internationally recognised destination where you can savour gourmet produce, fresh seafood, premium wines and boutique beverages.
